A woodsman got a new golden axe. He was really proud of it. One day, he carried the axe to cross the river in a boat. On the way, he waved his axe in the air to impress other passengers. But the axe slipped off and fell into the water. The boatman stopped the boat immediately, but the woodsman asked him to move on. He said that he knew how to get his axe back and then marked a cross on one side of the boat where his axe fell into the water….
The story is a satire on people who stubbornly stick to old ways in the face of changing circumstances.
